Germany's BFSG: small-business self-check

Very small businesses may be exempt for services such as online shops. All fields are optional and nothing is sent anywhere.

Separate from accessibility: Germany's online withdrawal button (§356a BGB, from June 2026)

This is a different law from the BFSG and WCAG. Tick what your shop already does. Nothing is saved and nothing is judged automatically.

Open the withdrawal button checklist

The withdrawal function is labelled clearly (for example "Vertrag widerrufen").
It stays available for the whole withdrawal period.
It is prominent and easy to find.
It leads to a screen that asks for name, contract identification and an electronic address for the confirmation.
The confirm button is labelled clearly (for example "Widerruf bestätigen").
After submitting, a receipt with content, date and time is sent without delay on a durable medium such as email.

Is this legal advice?

No. Fizz Labs provides technical accessibility checks, not legal advice, and does not guarantee compliance with the ADA, the European Accessibility Act, the BFSG or any other law.

If the scan finds nothing, am I compliant?

No. Automated tools detect only part of accessibility issues. Keyboard use, focus order, meaningful alt text and error messages still need human checking; our reports include a self-check list for these.

Am I exempt under Germany's BFSG?

Use the self-check. Very small businesses (fewer than 10 employees and up to €2 million annual turnover or balance sheet) may be exempt for services such as online shops, but documentation duties remain. Ask a lawyer for a binding answer.

What exactly do I get in the Report?
